There’s a bunch of different ways to flavor Water Kefir and one of my favorites is flavoring with Spirulina!
The Spirulina not only adds color but also add to the health benefits this drink has to offer!
Animal and test tube studies suggest that Spirulina increases the number of antibodies, infection-fighting proteins, and other cells that help with building the immune system by warding off infection and chronic illnesses, such as cancer. Amino Acids is the body’s building blocks and 62% of Spirulina total make up is Amino acids. This stuff even proved to protect against allergic reactions by stopping the release of histamines (the chemical that causes many allergy symptoms).
My friend, Mike, thinks it’s the best thing to have on a hot summers day and that this blue-green wonder is a Super Thirst Quencher!
You will need finished water kefir to make this.
- 1 liter of finished water kefir
- ½ -1 teaspoon of Spirulina
- Pour your water kefir into a liter bottle
- Add the Spirulina
- Close the bottle tightly
- Let your blue-green wonder ferment for a day or two
- Chill and enjoy or serve it over ice.
- Open with caution
